RESPONSE TO THE WORD

“All the kings of the earth shall praise You, O Lord, When they hear the words of Your mouth.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭138‬:‭4‬ ‭NKJV‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

No word of God is given for entertainment purposes. Whenever we read the word or listen to it being expounded by anointed teaching ministries, we are to respond. There are three possible ways to respond to God’s word. The first one is mentioned in our text. It says that when all the kings of the earth hear the words of God, they will praise Him. So, praising God is an appropriate way to respond to the word. The word should fill us with awe and lead to worship.

When we sustain the cycle of praise, practice and prayer after hearing the word of God, our spiritual life will keep growing in leaps and bounds.

Beyond praising God, the second way of response is to practice what is read or taught. Real gain comes from the practice of the word. Unless we are able to put to work what is received, we will be rated not more than a deceiver. “But be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.” James 1:22 NKJV. Our happiness is tied to obeying the word. “If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.” John 13:17 NKJV. Knowing the word without living by it makes us liable, as we can no longer claim ignorance. This brings us to the third way of response. We pray about the word. It is often the case that we know what the word says we should do; but we find ourselves powerless to do it. Such moments are the times we call for enabling grace through prayer. When we sustain the cycle of praise, practice and prayer after hearing the word of God, our spiritual life will keep growing in leaps and bounds.
