In our previous meditation, we learned how to avoid getting even with people who mistreat us. We noted that God will usually compensate for any unjust treatment. This submission holds true in the life of Hannah. The Bible describes how her partner made her miserable and added to her pain of barrenness. She could have lashed back at the woman. Or, she could have displayed the aggression on her husband. She chose the better option of taking her matter to the Lord in prayer. God looked upon her afflictions and opened her womb. In addition to giving birth to one of the finest prophets who ever lived in Israel, she was blessed with other children as well. Lashing back at anyone could not have delivered this kind of result.
When Hannah prayed, she activated God’s compensation plan… It is a better option to take our frustrations and unjust treatments to the Lord in prayer. When that is done, He will work out what is truly our due.
When Hannah prayed, she activated God’s compensation plan. Yes, it is by prayer that God’s plan is activated. This reminds us of Joseph M. Scriven’s song, WHAT A FRIEND WE HAVE IN JESUS. Here is the lyrics of the first stanza: What a friend we have in Jesus/All our sins and griefs to bear/What a privilege to carry/Everything to God in prayer/O what peace we often forfeit/O what needless pain we bear/All because we do not carry/Everything to God in prayer. Joseph initially wrote the hymn as a means of comfort to his mother who was across the sea from him. The hymn has now become an anchor to many saints across generations. It is a better option to take our frustrations and unjust treatments to the Lord in prayer. When that is done, He will work out what is truly our due.
