On the surface this Scripture will paint a perfect, seamless transition for believers as they move from one level to another. Such assumption will however melt away like cubes of ice when you place it by other Scriptures and in the light of real experiences of the saints of God in and out of the Bible. David did not only have troubles of his own, but he observed the same trend in other godly people. That moved him to pen Psalm 34:19. “Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.” In similar vein Paul recalled his own challenges in these terms: “But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience, Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me.” (2Timothy 3:10-11). These witnesses have two things in common. They both establish that there will be some difficult moments even for the most righteous among us. The good part is that God will work out our deliverance.
If you are hit by some troublous situations, fix your gaze on God who has all things planned out from beginning to the end.
So what do we make of our Scripture that says the path of the just shines more and more? It simply means that hiccups that we may encounter will also be shaped to lead to God’s ultimate plan for our lives. God knows how to work everything together for good to the advantage of those that love Him. God will not allow anything that will not add up to our overall destiny.
