Issues that took months to gain traction in the past now trend within minutes. In addition to these, social media has led to improved engagement among readers. Everybody can now express their opinion about every trending subject.

Yet the downsides of social media revolution are just as real. People now find it easy to hide behind their keyboards and bully others. One troubling effect of it all is the erosion of values such as decency in speech and appearance. For the love of likes and clicks, people have embraced obscenity on a scale never before seen in history. Everybody craves traffic on their page, and many have discovered that obscenity often draws the crowd. What we have in place is nothing but the spirit of whoredom. God’s verdict on Israel was that they had become shameless like harlots. When a society can no longer blush at wrongdoing, the spirit of whoredom is at work. So how should believers respond to issues like this? Our duty is to stay connected enough to use the media, but guarded enough to avoid its contamination.
