In our previous meditation, we learned of the need for believers to rise up in defense of their faith. What we need to bear in mind is that this may come at a cost. It may mean being cast into the lions’ den like Daniel, or thrown into the fiery flames like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Walking with God and working for Him comes with hazards. No wonder that when the elders wrote to the gentile believers, they described Barnabas and Paul as “men that have hazarded their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Acts 15:26 KJV). Those who are overtly concerned about hazards will make poor emissaries of Jesus.
Walking with God and working for Him comes with hazards…Those who are overtly concerned about hazards will make poor emissaries of Jesus…We can be sure that as long as we walk in His will, all shall be well.
What should be the attitude of a believer when faced with hazards? From where does a child of God draw his or her strength when times are tough on account of their belief? The word of God should be the anchor at such moments. God did not indicate that His children are immune to hazards; He only said that He got them covered at such rough moments. Our text is one of the several promises of God that He will never abandon His faithful ones. To get them doubly sure, Jesus told His disciples that the sparrows, as cheap as they might be, will never fall down without the Father’s knowledge. He went on to announce that their hairs are all numbered. It cannot be more assuring than that. The hazards that Daniel and the other three men faced yielded uncommon miracles for them. We can be sure that as long as we walk in His will, all shall be well.
