On December 7, 2019, the media was awash with the news of the passing of German-born evangelist, Reinhard Bonnke. He died at the age of 79. Bonnke was known for his gospel outreach campaigns throughout Africa. It is estimated that over 77 million people made decision for Christ through his ministry. The impressive work that he did made some people refer to him as the Billy Graham of Africa. About two years before his death, he successfully handed the baton over to a successor who has since hit the ground running.
It is neither a manifestation of wisdom or of faith not to prepare for the final day.
Staying watchful was the main thrust of our meditation yesterday. This is on account that we do not know the day of the Lord’s return. I know some skeptics who told me that from childhood they were told of the return of Jesus, yet He has not appeared. The fact remains that even if He does not come in our lifetime, we will someday depart this earth. This also calls for as much watchfulness as watching for His return, since we have no clue of the day or hour it might occur. In our text, Isaac stressed that he did not know the day of his death. He therefore did what was needful. All through scriptures you will find that wise people prepared for their exit. It is neither a manifestation of wisdom or of faith not to prepare for the final day.
