It took a long process before Lester Sumrall signed up to preach the gospel. However, the moment he did there was no looking back. Some people who knew him before tried to put fear in his heart; that he would die of starvation. The legendary preacher said if he starved to death they should write on his tombstone, “This is Lester Sumrall who died trusting God”. Of course, God did not allow him to die of hunger but provided his every need as he took the gospel of Christ round the globe. After the death of Reinhard Bonnke, a video of his appeared in the media. He was holding a class with men and women who appeared to be preachers of some sort. In it he mentioned the fact that he always told his wife that if he ever had a tombstone, what should be written on it is HE PREACHED JESUS.

When we remove Christ from the core of our existence, everything else begins to fall apart.

Through their preferred epitaphs, both Lester Sumrall and Reinhard Bonnke made a big statement that life is not about us; it is about God. We are called to live a life of absolute dependence on God and to reveal Christ to the world. Through noble words and kind deeds we are to preach Jesus. In our text, Apostle Paul also came to the conclusion that whether in life or in death, Christ must be the centre of it all.
