A man expressed his frustration concerning his 14-month old child in a post. The child somehow squeezed himself into the washing machine and got stuck. Luckily, the engine was not running. Even at that, the boy panicked and cried his lungs out. The father took him out and comforted him. Not more than 10 minutes later, the boy was back into the machine. The seeming restlessness of the child made the father to child-proof virtually everything in the house. He then concluded, “The amount of energy I spend trying to keep him alive is way more than I put into keeping myself alive.” This would have been funny were it not frustrating.
He does not abandon us because we make a couple of mistakes. He knows our frame, so He treats us with caution.
In His teaching, Jesus brought a comparison between earthly father and the Heavenly Father. He reasoned that no natural father would give a stone to his child who asked for bread or exchange a fish for a scorpion. He then concluded that if earthly fathers with all their shortcomings and limitations would do what is right for their offspring, how much more would the loving Heavenly Father do for us? The man we referenced was busy doing whatever was necessary to keep his son alive. Do we have any reason to think that God would do any less? It is interesting that even after the boy returned to his error, the father still went after him. It is so with God in an even greater dimension. He does not abandon us because we make a couple of mistakes. He knows our frame, so He treats us with caution.
