I can still vividly recollect that program put together by the Ibadan Varsity Christian Union (IVCU) around the mid-80s. Long before the event, a campaign material was circulated round the campus. It simply read, “I FOUND IT”. It didn’t say more than that. It ran for several weeks. What that did was raise the curiosity of students. Everybody was eager to know who found what. There is something about curiosity that always arrest people’s attention. Most advertising agencies tinker with this in promoting any product. What most manufacturers do is to first create curiosity in the mind of the public; and then they smile all the way to the bank.
Curiosity can also be a tool in the hand of God to get us into a higher spiritual height or bring us into our assignment…Curiosity can be a great gift if we don’t allow the devil to hijack it.
Curiosity works on the spiritual plane as well. First, Satan knows human beings are curious; and he cashes in on this to tempt us. It was curiosity that got Eve to go for the fruit of the tree God told them not to eat. Most teenagers get into sex and drugs out of curiosity. They just want to know how it feels. Those among them without proper guidance and counsel may be hooked and ultimately destroyed. But there is a good side to the issue. Curiosity can also be a tool in the hand of God to get us into a higher spiritual height or bring us into our assignment. That’s what God used for Moses. This shepherd boy got curious; he wanted to know why the bush was on fire but not consumed. God seized the moment and brought him to a new phase. Curiosity can be a great gift if we don’t allow the devil to hijack it.
