It is often the case that people point to a curse somewhere when they confront intractable or unexplainable situations. This tendency has now been transported to explain the state of the nation. A Nigerian man domiciled abroad visited home. On touch down, he was extremely perturbed at the level of disorder among the officials and passengers at the airport. “Nigeria is a cursed nation”, he blurted out in frustration. Quite a number of others took him on. They argued that we are indeed blessed in more sense than a skeptic would dare to admit. In the man’s many arguments against the nation, he shot himself in the leg when he said that our leaders failed to follow the pattern that the colonial masters left. According to him, a few nations that have followed pattern are the better for it today. That is the issue; it is about pattern, and not a curse.
And every life that God allowed to come to the earth is designed with a specific purpose and pattern. Following the pattern is what brings about the glory of God in your life.
The visitor’s take is a reflection of how many people respond to their challenges. Every difficulty is seen as a manifestation of a curse. When people do not have the desired breakthrough, they attribute it to some ancestral curse. On the authority of Scriptures, that the works of Jesus on the cross was comprehensive. He not only died to forgive our sins, the manner of His death was the cure for all curse. Many of the things people attribute to curses are mere manifestations of not taking heed to patterns. Everything God wants done on earth has a pattern in heaven. And every life that God allowed to come to the earth is designed with a specific purpose and pattern. Following the pattern is what brings about the glory of God in your life. A believer who wants the glory of God must be interested in understanding and working with divine patterns.
