The Psalmist described who God was to him in several ways. God was to him a rock, fortress, deliverer and strength. Moreover, he saw God as a shield, stronghold and a horn of salvation. What the Psalmist said in effect was that God was his all in all. As with the Psalmist, so is it with every one of us. This text brings to light, Paul’s word as penned down in Acts 17:28 – “For in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also His offspring.’” (NKJV). Our entire life is wrapped up in God. In Him we have life; outside of Him is confusion and death in various shades.
“Our entire life is wrapped up in God. In Him we have life; outside of Him is confusion and death in various shades.”
Jesus spoke to His disciples and by extension, to us that without Him we can do nothing. Realising our inadequacies and insufficiency are a good way to embark on a path of victory. Accordingly, we should defer to God in all things. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV. Reliance on horses and princes is a recipe for disappointment. In the final analysis, all men that we are prone to look up to also have their issues that may not be obvious to their admirers. All men have their limits, and no one can help you beyond their capacity. Let us learn to always look up to God and let Him determine how to sort us out.
