My mind was in turmoil, and my heart was racing—my international flight was just hours away, and I couldn’t find my passport. While in this state, the Holy Spirit whispered to my spirit, “Why don’t you pray about this?” I immediately obeyed, asking the Lord to open my eyes to where the passport was. It was not long after that when I lifted a container and found it underneath. Prayer is a wonderful privilege that we have as children of God. It is soothing to know that we can turn everything over to God in prayer. I have always said that anything worth worrying about is worth praying about.
…anything worth worrying about is worth praying about…Information will come your way that may appear threatening, events will unfold around you that may cause panic; but if you learn to shape them into prayers, you will be a happy soul.
Prayer is God’s prescription for our woes. James said, “Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray” (James 5:13). The temptation to complain, grow cold and bitter is there when there are difficulties; but that is not God’s way of going about it. We are to pray! For example, Jesus, when faced with the agony of the Cross, prayed. For Jesus, the presence of agony was an occasion to be more earnest in prayer. The greater the challenge we are confronting, the more we should be fervent in prayer. The text for our meditation today holds the key to so many things, including our joy. Information will come your way that may appear threatening, events will unfold around you that may cause panic; but if you learn to shape them into prayers, you will be a happy soul.
