Following examples can help resolve a stalemate. That was my experience on the train as I made my shuttle from London Euston to Manchester Piccadilly. The trip was well underway when I decided to use the lavatory. My first attempt was abortive as I could not open the door. I got back to my seat and decided to watch keenly those who are more familiar with the system. After two or three callers at the lavatory, I made my move again. This time, I had mastered the position of the toilet latch and opened it without stress. That happened by following examples.
When they followed the example, they succeeded in bringing the ark into Jerusalem with great joy. There is hardly anything we can think about without precedent in God’s word.
There is a spiritual angle to this. David wanted to move the ark into Jerusalem at some point during his reign but failed. There was even a casualty. Uzziah died when he put forth his hand to steady the ark on the new cart that was ferrying it. What did David do? He searched for the example of how the ark was carried in the past. His find was that the ark was never designed to be carried on a cart, but on the shoulders of the levites. “For because you did not do it the first time, the Lord our God broke out against us, because we did not consult Him about the proper order.” I Chronicles 15:13 NKJV. When they followed the example, they succeeded in bringing the ark into Jerusalem with great joy. There is hardly anything we can think about without precedent in God’s word. If we are careful to search the Bible, we will find acceptable patterns for our marriage, ministry, career, and other endeavours. Finally, Jesus is God’s perfect example set for the world. There is no going wrong following Him.
