While in Houston, Texas early December last year, I walked across to a H-E-B store close to my hotel in Sugar Land. One of the items that I bought was a Thermal Mug. I had thought that I could use it to heat water in the microwave for my tea and keep it warm once done. As I unpacked the items in my hotel room, I noticed a card attached to the mug which carried some instructions. Upon reading it, I came across a line, “Not recommended for microwave use”. Without that instruction, I probably would have destroyed the utensil from the first use.
…only God reserves the right to dictate what we can use our bodies for…God owns us, and we are to live in a way that is pleasing to Him.
Take note that it took the manufacturer to state what the product could be used for. The Psalmist states that it is God who made us, and not we ourselves (Psalm 100:3). To that extent, only God reserves the right to dictate what we can use our bodies for. Apostle Paul advocating for moral sanity told the Corinthian church that the body is not for sexual immorality. God, our Creator, states that our bodies are neither designed nor recommended for sexual promiscuity. Those who think they have the right to do what they please with their bodies imply that they made themselves. Nothing can be farther from the truth. God owns us, and we are to live in a way that is pleasing to Him.
