The Legendary footballer, Cristiana Ronaldo, was interviewed sometime last year. One of the questions was what he would do when he finally hung his boots. He ruled coaching out of it. He said he doesn’t see himself as a coach in the future because he doesn’t have passion for this generation. He explains that they don’t like to take advice. They believe that they know everything and do not need input from anyone. That’s very revealing. We are faced with a generation of youngsters who hate rebuke. The Psalmist knew the place of godly instruction. He traced his excellent wisdom to the word of God. “Through Your precepts I get understanding; Therefore I hate every false way.” Psalms 119:104 NKJV. His understanding exceeded that of his teachers and the elderly because he gave attention to divine instruction. The requirement for getting instruction from God is humility. God knows the arrogant afar off, but He is always ready to instruct the humble at heart.
