God views boundaries as sacred. Understandably, He expects people to stay within their allotted territories. “Do not remove the ancient landmark, Nor enter the fields of the fatherless” Proverbs 23:10 NKJV. The seriousness of this warning could be seen from the fact that it came two times in as many chapters. The same warning is contained in Proverbs 22:28. This injunction is with regard to physical lands, but its application is much wider. Ordinarily, Uzziah would pass for a good king. He began to reign at a tender age of 16. He walked in the counsel of God as monitored by the priest. His problem was that he could not keep boundary. He overstepped his bound when he took it upon himself to offer sacrifice which the priests ought to have done. He was smitten with leprosy for that transgression.
God views boundaries as sacred…Every time people step outside of their boundaries, they step outside of grace and become vulnerable…We are best secured operating where God has appointed us.
Our text is also talking about the importance of keeping boundaries. The sons of Levi led by Korah had the honour of being brought close to God. Their lot was to stand before the congregation and serve them. However, they were not contented with that; they wanted the office that Moses and Aaron occupied. They rubbished Moses, the servant of God and defiantly refused to obey his words. The consequence of their action was the fire that came down and slew them. Every time people step outside of their boundaries, they step outside of grace and become vulnerable. The Bible compares those who wander from their place to a bird who wanders away from its nest. We are best secured operating where God has appointed us.
