Partnership is the very foundation of marriage. After creating man, God noted that it was not good for him to be alone. So, from Adam’s rib, He fashioned Eve. Thus, the first partnership on earth was established. This would become the pattern and the string that binds human existence. The wise man observed the benefits of having a partnership. He observed that two are better than one because it guarantees mutual warmth. He further explained that if one partner falters, the other is there to help, but the one who is alone has his doom sealed.
Though you cannot achieve anything significant alone, you can’t partner with just anyone either…Attempting to partner with just anyone in sight is a recipe for confusion and failure.
It was a rule of thumb for Jesus that every time He sent the disciples to do something, He engaged them in pairs. To fetch the colt which He rode to Jerusalem, He sent two disciples. (Mark 11:1). When it was time for their first missionary experience, they went in pairs. That was His way of building team spirit among them. There is a caveat to note at this point. Though you cannot achieve anything significant alone, you can’t partner with just anyone either. Only God can rightly select those who should walk with you in partnership. God chose Gideon’s company, and He must do the same for you – “But the Lord said to Gideon, “The people are still too many; bring them down to the water, and I will test them for you there. Then it will be, that of whom I say to you, ‘This one shall go with you,’ the same shall go with you; and of whomever I say to you, ‘This one shall not go with you,’ the same shall not go.” Judges 7:4 NKJV. Attempting to partner with just anyone in sight is a recipe for confusion and failure.
