Many of the things we take as casual or incidentals may actually be God trying to engage us on a spiritual mission. When Abraham heard that Sodom was going to come under God’s prophetic judgment, he took to praying. He stood in the gap for that nation, negotiating for the destinies of people. He pleaded with God not to destroy the land for the sake of the righteous few that could be in it. He negotiated to as low as 10 righteous persons. God promised to spare Sodom if He could find 10 righteous persons in it. Though the land was eventually destroyed because that barest minimum could not be found, God still honoured Abraham’s intercession and delivered Lot and his household.
Hearing bestows responsibility…What came to your hearing may not just be an accident; it could be a clarion call to do something.
Hearing bestows responsibility. Abraham heard, and he acted. Nehemiah was of this frame as well. He heard of the plight of the Jewish returnees, and he began to fast and pray. In the course of doing that, God put an idea in him to go and rebuild Jerusalem. What came to your hearing may not just be an accident; it could be a clarion call to do something. By the way, if believers respond prayerfully to all the things they hear, there will be more prayer warriors than murmurers in the Body.
