While financial prosperity alone is not a good yardstick to measure progress in life, many people desire to prosper nonetheless. The reasons for this are varied. For some it is to meet the basic responsibilities of life. For others it is for empowerment in order to help those in need. Nothing attests better to the universal desire for financial increase than the goodwill we express to each other at the dawn of each new year.
Man wants to prosper, God equally wants man to prosper as well. Whenever there is an alignment of wills or desires, a miracle is imminent…When our mindset is healed, our pocket will begin to amend as well.
The starting point is the mindset. Many have a twisted image of God. They think that God wants us to barely get along here in life. They think God only has provisions laid in store for them in heaven. That mindset is different from what the Bible teaches. The Bible speaks of the dual benefits of godliness – it is both for the present life and the one in view (1 Timothy 4:8). Think of God as the father that He truly is. Every father takes delight in the well-being of his offspring. God cannot be any less disposed to our prosperity. God wants us to prosper. Here we have what might be called an alignment of desires. Man wants to prosper, God equally wants man to prosper as well. Whenever there is an alignment of wills or desires, a miracle is imminent. Our text of scripture clearly states that God takes pleasure when His servant (and generally His people) prospers. When our mindset is healed, our pocket will begin to amend as well.
