Several years ago, I walked into a pharmacy to pick up a prescription drug. It was not until the day after that I exercised any patience to read the fine prints on the pack or the bottle itself. To my chagrin, I discovered that the drug had expired about three months earlier! I immediately thought of the lot of many people who could not read or those who won’t, what danger they might be exposed to by ignorance. I had to thrash it all – bottle, content and pack.
If you notice that something has passed its time, let God show you a new thing…God is equal to the billing; and He delights in doing new things all the time.
Incidentally, it is not only drugs that can expire. Dreams and businesses can also fall into the category of things that have outlived their usefulness. Holding tightly to them can prove fatal to the health of one’s overall destiny. In previous meditation, we mentioned Elijah’s little corner at the brook which dried up. Had Elijah stuck with that place, he would not have survived the famine. He moved on in the new direction which God had given. If you notice that something has passed its time, let God show you a new thing. In our text, He promised to do a new thing. The new thing may be as difficult as making road in the wilderness and causing rivers flow in the desert. However, God is equal to the billing; and He delights in doing new things all the time.
