On September 3, 2025, we issued a cheque in settlement of some obligations. When the individual presented it, he learned that it could not go through clearing. Reason? The cheque had expired! That was my first time of hearing that cheque booklets issued by commercial banks have a lifespan. When the cheque was returned to me, I noticed that the expiry date on the cheque was May of the same year.
Chasing what has expired is a waste of time and other precious resources…God promised to do a new thing; be assured that He has you in mind in the scheme of things.
In life, things do expire. How we need to be reminded that some things expired with 2025! To get a handle on this, imagine what may probably happen to the sick treating their ailment with expired drugs. It is either they don’t recover from their malady or get even worse. Expired drugs may turn out to be poison, adding to an already precarious condition. Whether it be a dream or relationship, if it has expired with the past year, don’t hold on to it. Chasing what has expired is a waste of time and other precious resources. What is required is to trust God for something new this year. God promised to do a new thing; be assured that He has you in mind in the scheme of things. Through the help of the Holy Spirit, you can connect with your own portion of God’s new agenda.

This reminds me afresh to stop wasting energy on what God has already let fade in 2025, and instead rest in the beautiful assurance that the Lord is intentionally weaving a fresh, life-giving chapter just for me in this new year 2026 and ahead. He sees me, knows me, and has not forgotten His promise!
I will rest in these assurances
