While God is not always loud, it is clear that He is never absent, silent, or inactive. Like in the experience of Elijah on the mount, you may not see His acts in the fury of the flame or the awe inspiring earthquake; but He is present nonetheless. The people of Israel were at a point where they felt God was absent. They seemed not to see His hands nor hear the voice of His mouth. They jumped to conclusion that God had abandoned them. God was quick to correct their impression by drawing on a woman’s maternal instinct in relation to her sucking child. Would a nursing mother abandon her child? It is a rarity. Not even women who are mentally challenged would let go of their sucking children so easily.
While God is not always loud, it is clear that He is never absent, silent, or inactive…God’s strong commitment remains intact that He would never abandon His own.
In our text, God made some exception that a woman may sometimes forget. Even at that, God’s strong commitment remains intact that He would never abandon His own. David said, “When my father and my mother forsake me, Then the Lord will take care of me.” Psalms 27:10 NKJV. The reason why it is impossible for God to forget or abandon us is found right next to our text – “See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; Your walls are continually before Me.” Isaiah 49:16 NKJV. As it were, God would literally have to lose His hands to forget us! Nothing can be more comforting than this. So as we concluded yesterday, God is not about to unfollow us as long as we don’t unfollow Him.

Lord I thank you now and always for you’re taking care of me.
