Several accounts in the Bible confirmed that God rewards efforts. Man’s effort may never be sufficient to achieve his goals, but they will at least provide a platform for God’s intervention. I believe that the ultimate rescue of Moses was a reward for the mother’s efforts. Prior to the birth of Moses, the king had given an order to have every male child killed within the first few minutes of life. The king of Egypt wanted to prevent the Hebrews from multiplying, so that in case of any breakout of hostility, they would not be the worse for it. Maternal instinct crept in, as Moses’ mother beat around the decree and succeeded in hiding him in the house for three months. Following that was the ingenious plan to put him in a basket which was kept by the river side, until Pharaoh’s daughter picked him up.
…God rewards efforts…When you have done what is within your capability and that is not enough, be rest assured that God will make up for the deficit.
It has been a guiding light for me that if I do what I could, God will do what I can’t. It boils down to this – God may never do what you can’t until you have tried what you could. That is speaking in favour of effort right there. Arthur L. Williams Jr. wrote a book several years ago and titled it, ALL YOU CAN DO IS ALL YOU CAN DO BUT ALL YOU CAN DO IS ENOUGH. This resonates with my philosophy of life to a great extent. In everything, l try to not leave room for blame. When you have done what is within your capability and that is not enough, be rest assured that God will make up for the deficit. When Moses’ mother came to her wits’ end, God moved in sovereignly to preserve the child who went on to be a mighty prophet and deliverer.
