The confession of Elijah here, who claimed he was standing before the Lord, is similar to that of angel Gabriel when he brought news to Zechariah. “And the angel answered and said to him, “I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God, and was sent to speak to you and bring you these glad tidings.” Luke 1:19 NKJV. The only difference is that whereas Elijah brought judgement to Ahab, Gabriel brought the good news of a prophet that would be born. Either way, it seems that those who stand before God never run short of divine messages.
“Those who fail to manage their solitude moment will make a big blunder when the camera light is beamed on them”
The story of Elijah is one of the most dramatic stories you can find in the Bible, particularly with respect to his rise to stardom. Almost without pedigree he rose to national limelight, or so it seems. A close look at the text reveals something important. He confessed before Ahab that he was standing before the Lord. So all the time he was out of the public glare, he was cutting his prophetic teeth under God’s tutelage. Understandably when he came out of that closet, he was a firebrand. From here, we can conclude that no one ever becomes a champion in the things of God without a time of solitary and seeming insignificance. Before you can function with stability in the Broad Street of His operations, you must have had your time in the school of isolation, somewhere in the back side of the desert. Those who fail to manage their solitude moment will make a big blunder when the camera light is beamed on them.
