On Friday, June 13 this year, Israel launched its air war against Iran, killing nearly the entire top echelon of the country’s military commanders. According to the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, it was a preventive strike to keep Iran from developing nuclear weapons that would be an existential threat to Israel. Counting the notable ones, there are no less than 10 conflicts going on in the world as at this moment. These include Ukraine-Russia conflict, Syrian Civil War, Yemen Civil War, Afghanistan conflict, South Sudanese conflict, Central Africa Republic conflict, and Nigerian insurgency. While this list is not exhaustive, it is good enough to point out that our world is shaking and full of breaches (Psalm 60:2), and it is reeling to and fro like a drunken fellow (Psalm 107:27).
At the coming of the kingdom, wars shall cease. Every well meaning believer should not only pray but do whatever is in his or her power to hasten the coming of the day of the Lord.
The natural reaction to all these terrible wars is to panic, but we are not to react naturally. Believers must learn to respond biblically and spiritually. First of all, we must take solace in the words of Christ who said we should not be troubled by these things. He predicted long ago that these events will be prevalent as the end draws near. Seeing them is a validation of the truth He had spoken. Secondly, we should be more earnest in praying as He taught us. He asked us to pray to the Father that His kingdom might come and His will be done on earth as it is in heaven. At the coming of the kingdom, wars shall cease. Every well meaning believer should not only pray but do whatever is in his or her power to hasten the coming of the day of the Lord.
