John Maxwell, a leadership guru, wrote on what he called THE LAW OF SOLID GROUND. He used this to stress the importance of leaders being transparent and live with integrity. He opines that many things can change but trust, like the ground, remains the same everywhere. Borrowing from this, there are two things believers should maintain, no matter where they find themselves. First is their godly disposition. This must never be compromised. This is the essence of our chosen passage for meditation. It may take a while, but godly disposition will have its payday.
The gift of God in our life must never be discarded…Never neglect your gift under any circumstance; it is your conveyor belt to relevance.
Secondly, the gift of God in our life must never be discarded. Concerning spiritual gifts, Paul noted that they are given to us to profit therewith. Wherever you go, don’t leave your gift behind. Joseph encapsulated these two things. In the midst of the most vicious temptation, he maintained his integrity. He resisted his master’s wife’s advances because of the deep-seated fear of God in his heart. As for his gift, he plied it in his father’s house. When he got into prison, he was still busy helping people. He interpreted the dreams of the butler and the baker. It was only a matter of time before another opportunity surfaced, and he was called to interpret dream for Pharaoh. Isn’t it an irony that Joseph’s gift remotely took him to jail and in due time the same gift brought him out of it? Never neglect your gift under any circumstance; it is your conveyor belt to relevance.
