It is often said that action speaks louder than words. Jesus demonstrated this in our text. After a busy day of teaching and performing miracles, He ordered His disciples to go over to the other side. They were in the middle of the sea when a storm rose against them. Going to the other side symbolizes progress. The devil won’t fold his arms and watch that happen without resistance. Most times when people go through storms, it is because the devil is contesting the word of the Lord over them.
“Those who care about their church do not go about complaining about what is wrong, they fix it.”
What the disciples did on that occasion was quite instructive. They woke the Master, asking if He cared about them. Jesus did not provide a direct answer to their question. He simply stood up, rebuked the wind and restored peace. This is a case of action speaking louder than words. The real proof of care is positive, corresponding action. Those who care about their health would act. The same applies to the family. Your care for the family is not by muttering the words but by action. You can extend the same argument to membership of a congregation. Those who care about their church do not go about complaining about what is wrong, they fix it. On a final note, God’s attention to us is a proof of His care.
