It was on one of my trips to Kenya that Pastor David Adeoye asked if I had ever done colonoscopy. I told him no. He had done it about twice and suggested that from certain age bracket it is important to do it. Then about two years ago, Pastor Kayode Oyewunmi in Atlanta broached on the same subject. By the way, colonoscopy is a non-surgical medical procedure to check if there is anything that predisposes one to cancer of the colon. It is a preventive measure. When I visited the United States in February, I decided to give it a shot. Thankfully, the doctor gave me a clean bill of health and said I may repeat the process in the next seven to 10 years.
Our lifting lies in diligently hearkening to God’s voice. That is how blessings will come chasing after us rather than we chasing blessings.
One of the things that gripped me deeply is how we often obey the words of professionals, particularly doctors, more than God’s word. The preparation to the procedure was one week long. Seven days to the time, I was asked to desist from eating raw vegetables and nuts. Three days to the procedure, I was asked to desist from eating anything at all other than fluids. You needed to see how I followed the instructions religiously. I wish we are able to give the same degree of attention to what God says. Our lifting lies in diligently hearkening to God’s voice. That is how blessings will come chasing after us rather than we chasing blessings.
