There are two “cause me” prayers of David in this verse. In the first prayer, he requested that God would cause him to hear His lovingkindness in the morning. As it were, this is the early morning of another year and this is a prayer everybody should pray. The New Living Translation of that segment says, “Let me hear of your unfailing love each morning…” It sounds even more impressive in the Passion Translation – “Let the dawning day bring me revelation of your tender, unfailing love…” A revelation of the tender, unfailing love of God comes with an assurance that makes us unshakable. Jesus spoke about the Father’s love and what follows in tow. If we have the revelation of the Father’s love, we will never doubt His intention to give us all things in addition.
If God shows us the right way, life will no longer be a guesswork. No one can guesswork their way into destiny; we must be guided precisely.
The second “cause me” prayer of David was to know how he should walk. This is equally vital to pray in this early part of the year. The necessity of this prayer is borne by two corroborating verses of scriptures – Proverbs 14:12 and Proverbs 16:25. They say that there is a way that seems right, but the end of it is destruction. If God shows us the right way, life will no longer be a guesswork. No one can guesswork their way into destiny; we must be guided precisely.
