There are two prayers in this abridged verse of scripture. As a quick background, the entire chapter captures David’s penitent prayer after he was rebuked for his sin.
Firstly, He gives strength to the anointed. “The Lord is their strength, And He is the saving refuge of His anointed.” Psalms 28:8 NKJV.
It is the presence of the Lord that gives us joy in full. God’s Spirit gives joy. Through Him our mourning can turn to dancing, and ashes to beauty.
