David is a good case study when it comes to restoration. In our previous meditation, we learned that David first sowed what he was hoping to harvest. He literally recovered a man from death and that brought him a harvest of recovery ultimately. Today, let us step back and consider what happened before David began his pursuit. Both David and his men let their emotions flow freely when they lost their base. However, they never allowed that to cripple them. If we let anything cripple action, we sign up for double jeopardy. David found courage from deep down within himself.

The next thing he did is the focus of our text. He sought for direction from the Lord. This was a major secret of David. He left nothing to chance or mere expertise; he always sought the mind of the Lord in all matters. David describes God as the Restorer in the shepherd’s psalm. One way by which God brings restoration is by divine instruction. When David enquired of the Lord whether he should pursue or not, God gave him leave to go ahead. In addition, God gave him assurance of recovery. Your quest for restoration must have its root in the word of God. Here is a closing thought. Whereas David made enquiry through the priest using the ephod, making enquiry today is basically through the written word in an atmosphere of prayer.
