Acts of the Apostles chapter 9 opens with the account of Saul’s negative exploits. He was persecuting the church, killing and maiming those who belonged to Christ. However, by the close of that chapter, an apostle who would go on to positively affect the world had been born. Saul encountered the Lord on his way to Damascus, received a couple of directions and the trajectory of his life changed forever. God’s guidance can lead to a midlife correction as was clearly demonstrated by the story of Saul (later known as Paul). In addition to a change of course, divine guidance can also ensure progressive results in life. This is in agreement with the scripture that says, “But the path of the just is like the shining sun, that shines ever brighter unto the perfect day”. (Proverbs 4:18 NKJV).

In the last meditation, we showed that the primary source of divine guidance is the Spirit. The interaction of the Holy Spirit with our human spirit produces a spark that we call guidance. Without taking anything away from what was said earlier, it is important to add that the word of God also plays an important role in guidance. Expectedly, the psalmist said, “Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.” (
