Jesus identified two sources of honour – man and God. He stated where His own honour came from. “I do not receive honor from men.” John 5:41 NKJV. His refusal to take honour emanating from man shows that that source is unpredictable and non-lasting. So it cannot be regarded as true honour. The honour bestowed by God is worth celebrating. How do we prepare for God’s honour? This verse of scripture answers it: “And now the Lord speaks— the one who formed me in my mother’s womb to be his servant, who commissioned me to bring Israel back to him. The Lord has honored me, and my God has given me strength.” (Isaiah 49:5 NLT)
The honour bestowed by God is worth celebrating…Your honour lies in what God has commissioned you to do…when you stay within the boundaries of your assignment, God bestows honour on you.
Your honour lies in what God has commissioned you to do. When you walk in the light of your assignment, two things will happen. Firstly, the Lord will give you strength. It will be a contradiction of God’s nature to help you achieve what is not allotted to you. God gives people purposes to pursue according to His own will. It is only when people understand the purpose and make it their main focus that help comes from above. God will never sponsor a rebellion. Secondly, when you stay within the boundaries of your assignment, God bestows honour on you. The grass may look greener on the other side, but God will honour you where He has placed you.
