Our previous meditation established the need to have power to drive purpose. The good news is that power is already present in believers. As Paul opened his epistle to the Ephesians, he prayed several important prayers for them. The hallmark of those prayers was the opening of their eyes. “The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places,” Ephesians 1:18-20 NKJV
Paul made it clear that the power present in believers is the exact one that God the Father exercised in raising Him from the dead…Our ignorance of this resident power is why we play the second fiddle in life.
Paul made it clear that the power present in believers is the exact one that God the Father exercised in raising Him from the dead. That must be some awesome power there. We know that political, military, religious, and spiritual forces made concerted efforts to keep Jesus from resurrecting. However, they were bulldozed out of the way for the Son of God to rise victoriously. If that is the power available to believers, then our potential is not anything less than what Jesus did. It now makes sense when Jesus said that those who believe in Him would do the works that He did, and even greater. Our ignorance of this resident power is why we play the second fiddle in life. Truly, we need our eyes of understanding to be enlightened.
