Taking a cue from their prophet Muhammad, Muslims call the Jews and Christians “the people of the Book”. The book, of course, is the Bible. This description, coming from those who do not believe, is apt. It reminds us that believers were first called Christians by unbelievers as well. Calling Jesus and Christians the people of the Book is a great compliment, even if they had intended it to be derisive. Attention to that Book enabled Daniel to understand the timeline of their captivity. God’s word is a lamp and a light. Giving attention to it helps us to connect with divine timing.
People cannot fully walk the path of destiny without understanding their purpose and the time ordained. Both can be received as you give attention to the Book.
Jesus understood the scope of His assignment on earth by the Book. After the 40-day fast in the wilderness, He came into the synagogue where He was handed the Book. On purpose, He turned to the prophecy of Isaiah – ““The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed” Luke 4:18 NKJV. That set the tone for His ministry. People cannot fully walk the path of destiny without understanding their purpose and the time ordained. Both can be received as you give attention to the Book.
