During the ten days Jesus spent with His disciples after the resurrection, He did everything to firmly establish that He is risen indeed. The disciples were not clear on the fact that Jesus would be taken from them again. That informed the question they asked whether Jesus was going to restore the kingdom to Israel there and then. Here was the Master’s response: “And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority.” Acts 1:7 NKJV. In this and other matters, it is beyond the scope of man to determine times and seasons. As far as times are concerned we must come to terms with the Psalmist who said, “My times are in Your hand.” Psalm 31:15 NKJV.
…there is timing in divine activities. There is a fixed time for God’s reward and it is called the due season. The safety valve in all of this is to remain constant in service to God and man.
Ecclesiastes 8:11 explains why people are encouraged in sinful ways. “Because the sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.” Usually, God does not pounce on any sinner without giving a space for repentance. Unfortunately, this is often misconstrued by those who are in error, leading them to believe that their rebellion will carry no consequences. The opposite of this is equally true. When there is no immediate reward for noble deeds, the temptation to be discouraged is rife. What every faithful child of God must know is that there is timing in divine activities. There is a fixed time for God’s reward and it is called the due season. The safety valve in all of this is to remain constant in service to God and man.
