This scripture conveys to us the dealing of God with the Israelites. He brought them out from the place of bondage in order to bring them into the land that He swore to their fathers. That is what we know as the Promised Land. You can reduce that to any of the blessed, satisfactory phase of life. God has not changed His method; He is still bringing people out of different phases of life to give them better experiences. However, a third thing is implied in this loop of divine operation. In-between the “bringing out” and the “bringing in”, there is the “bringing through” phase. This is what we call the process. Hardly will you find any example of anyone that God took into the “Promised Land” without taking them through the process. The quicker an individual submits to the process, the faster his or her arrival at the Promised Place.
The process is a necessary phase of life so that people will not self-destruct when they get to their places of glory. The successful and prosperous phase of life, as good and desirable as it is, is fraught with dangers. The temptation to forget God is high in times of prosperity; except one has been brought through process. To forget God in our prosperity is to court disaster. Psalm 9:17 says that the nations that forget God shall be destroyed. I believe this includes the individuals who forget God as well. Presumption is another danger to watch against. Successful people may start to think of their ingenuity as the reason for their breakthroughs. Those who think this way are already setting the stage for pride to take over their lives. For these reasons, God will normally take people through processes or the “striping” stage; so that no flesh can glory over any breakthrough.
