You know children by the way they reason. I once read an article by a columnist who
writes for kids. She had asked some children who were from ages four to five who was
the head of their families, probing them further to justify their answers. One girl said her
father was the head of their family, because her father was bigger than her mummy!
You can imagine what her answer would be if her mother were bigger than her Daddy!
Another said the mother was the head of the family because she cooks the food! One
even gave an indication of a monster as the head, saying that his father, mother, and
himself were the head! Such responses say a lot about their level of development.
Generally, children show immaturity in their reasoning and actions.
“Spiritually immature people don’t fare better.”
Spiritually immature people don’t fare better. Following the results of the Presidential
election in Nigeria on February 25, 2023, a young man poured out his frustration by
saying that God is irrelevant to the affairs of life. Apparently, he had high hopes to see
new leaders emerge and salvage Nigeria. When his expectation was not met, he lashed
out at God. That is immaturity at its peak! Spiritually speaking, the proof of one’s
maturity is reasoning in the Scriptures. Had the young man reasoned in scripture, he
would have realized that there is nothing God permits that He cannot redeem. He could
have found that God always works everything together after the counsel of His will. No
matter how frustrated you may feel at anytime, do not take your focus off the scriptures.
In it you find explanations for issues, or at least the grace and wisdom to cope with
situations.
