History is filled with remarkable military rescues. The Israeli raid on Entebbe is not only a subject of literature but also a storyline for award-winning film. More recently, Americans raided a compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan where the marines killed Osama bin Laden. Such missions leave the world in awe and admiration. As wonderful as these were, they are grossly inferior to the deliverance of Peter by the angel. On the night of his deliverance, he was sleeping between two soldiers. That means his legs were tied, one each to the two soldiers. Whoever would steal Peter away must have to contend with these two fierce-looking Roman soldiers. When the angel entered, the chain snapped; yet there was not a stir among the soldiers. The angel even told Peter to arise; and that too did not wake them up. The summary of this is that God knows how to deliver the righteous; and when the time comes, no device of man can stop Him.
God can choose to achieve whatever effect He desires through any means. He is the Omnipotent God.
For a moment, notice that when the angel entered the jailhouse, light shined. It was that light that raised Peter. Isn’t God’s light mysterious? Saul saw the light on the way to Damascus, and he was knocked down to the floor; but here the light of God raised Peter. God can choose to achieve whatever effect He desires through any means. He is the Omnipotent God. Finally, be reminded that God’s angels are still at work. They are permanent attachés to the heirs of God. If you live consciously of them, you will enjoy more of their ministry.
