It is not all the time that people have vision or prophetic announcement to herald what they are to do with their lives. In such circumstances, knowing what to do could be a trying task indeed. What most people fail to realize is that on many occasions, they are already doing great for God; only that they think they are meant for something more grandeur in nature. I read the story of one Linda Clare of Eugene Oregon. She had the job of a childcare provider which she mainly complained about. She thought she was merely bidding her time in that role and that God had something more than “just” babysitting for her. Her perspective changed one day when a father came to pick up his toddler. The man said to Linda, “You taught Kasey to pray. She says grace at home now, and my wife and I are thinking of attending church.” At that point, Linda realized that what she considered an ordinary boring job was actually bringing people to the Lord. That changed her perspective. These days, when people ask what she does for a living, she replies with a smile, “I ‘just’ baby-sit for the Lord” (Linda Clare, Eugene, OR, “Heart to Heart,” Today’s Christian Woman).
“The most mundane thing that we do could hold a mighty potential when we do it as unto the Lord.”
Moses was born at a time when every male child born to any Hebrew family was commanded to be killed. His mother preserved him at home for three months. When it became impossible to keep him that way, she pulled up a plan. She put her baby in a basket and planted it by the riverside. His sister had the job of “babysitting”. That plot saved Moses who went on to become a deliverer and lawgiver. Could she have imagined that she was attending to a mighty man in the making? Absolutely not! Here is the point: the most mundane thing that we do could hold a mighty potential when we do it as unto the Lord.
