Sometimes, the most impactful lesson you will learn in life may come from unexpected quarters. Recently, a woman aged 30 came on stage at America’s Got Talent show. Her stage name is Nightbirde. She auditioned an original powerful song with an equally powerful voice. Beyond the song, there was something about her authenticity as well as enduring spirit. She was diagnosed with cancer that has invaded her lungs, spine, and liver. The charm she radiated did not convey her trying conditions. When the judges wondered how she could be so sweet while fighting for her life, here is what she said: “You can’t wait until life isn’t hard anymore before you decide to be happy”. Can you beat that?
Learn happiness from the daily chores of life like the ability to feed yourself and use the bathroom; the ability to see the sun shining bright and the privilege of smelling the roses. Even when life makes a tough call on you, be assured that joy is laid up in store for you.
I do not know Nightbirde’s standing with the Lord or her religious persuasion. What is not in doubt is a strong, winning philosophy about life. For instance, medically speaking she has a two per cent chance of survival. Notwithstanding, she said “2% is not 0%; 2% is something and I wish people knew how amazing it is”. A woman whose life is hanging on a thread was radiating life and inspiring millions of people around the globe with her 2%! Believers have a much stronger reason to be happy. Learn happiness from the daily chores of life like the ability to feed yourself and use the bathroom; the ability to see the sun shining bright and the privilege of smelling the roses. Even when life makes a tough call on you, be assured that joy is laid up in store for you. The scripture teaches that those who endure the tough season will certainly enjoy the glorious season of harvest.
