In a metaphoric sense, we often allude to life as a race. Being so, there has to be governing rules. In athletics several things can disqualify a competitor. Take track events for example. A false start can bar an athlete from competing. A false start is when a competitor takes off from the starting block before the gun or the whistle. Most athletes who have been disqualified for this offence blamed it on anxiety. This is true in other life situations. Most of the wrong moves people make in life can be traced to unmitigated agitation. Those who had suffered setbacks in previous years may want to do catch-up. Those who were successful want greater success still. Either way, people work themselves to frenzy. The words of Jesus should come to the rescue here. He taught us not to be anxious for anything. If you learn the practice of acknowledging God in and for all things, you will take off a lot of pressure from your life.
Proverbs 4:18 says, “But the path of the just is like the shining sun, that shines ever brighter unto the perfect day.” I believe that the reason why the path of the righteous is shinning more and more is because God is being acknowledged in all ways. As long as we keep acknowledging the Lord for all things, He will keep supplying the grace for continuous progress. At the end of his life, Paul stated clearly that he had finished his race. His success must have been due the fact that he sought the will of God for all phases of his life.
