In the previous meditation, we learned that every place has people with needs. The motive is to jettison the idea that the grass is greener across the fence. We can, by the power of God, overcome whatever life throws at us at any given location. Our focus right now is to determine how to connect with God’s power. Put simply, the means to draw down on the power of God is F-A-I-T-H! This is the key lesson from the woman who is the focus of our text. Upon touching the garments of Jesus, she drew enough power to end twelve years of misery. Here is how Jesus closed her case: “And He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.”” (Mark 5:34 NKJV)
“No matter how robust our affirmative speaking is, it will still be futile without corresponding action. In summary, the cycle of faith reads something like this: believe, speak, and act!”
Three things are instructive about this woman’s faith. First of all, we take notice of how she developed the winning faith which she displayed. She had previously heard about Jesus. It is not exactly clear what she heard about Him. It is safe to guess that she heard of the various miracles that Jesus had performed. Each of those testimonies served as a faith booster. Romans 10:17 says that faith comes by hearing. Studying the word of God as well as hearing it preached will never leave your faith tank the same. Beyond building her faith, she also demonstrated the importance of putting it to work. She did this in two ways. When she said within herself that touching the garments of Jesus would cure her, it was an expression of faith. The spirit of faith works by speaking. She later expressed her faith through action when she pressed through the crowd to touch His clothes. No matter how robust our affirmative speaking is, it will still be futile without corresponding action. In summary, the cycle of faith reads something like this: believe, speak, and act!
