There are two ways by which someone can claim the right of ownership over something. First, creation or invention confers ownership. In this sense it is correct to say that all iPad products are owned by apple. They enjoy the patent over this and their other products. Now, if someone else buys an iPad product with his hard-earned money, he also enjoys the right of ownership. So the second way to ownership is by purchase. How does this translate with respect to all things? Psalm 95:5 concedes the right of ownership of the Sea to God. Why? “For He made them”, the Bible says.
If we fail to worship Him, we rob Him of His due. Worship is what we pay as rentals for the multitude of things that God gave us to enjoy.
What is said of the sea is true of what dwells in it and indeed of all other things in the universe. God owns all things because He made all things! It is even truer with regards to man, particularly those who are believers. Not only did He make us, but He also purchased us from bondage to sin and the devil by the Blood of His Son. For everyone who believes, God has dual right of ownership – first, by creation; second, by redemption. What should be our ideal response to the One who owns all things? Worship! This is what the Bible says right next after our text. “Oh come, let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker”. If we fail to worship Him, we rob Him of His due. Worship is what we pay as rentals for the multitude of things that God gave us to enjoy.
