In the past meditation, we learned of the importance of distancing ourselves from idolatry in all shapes. No idol is close to God in rank or power. ““To whom will you liken Me, and make Me equal And compare Me, that we should be alike? They lavish gold out of the bag, And weigh silver on the scales; They hire a goldsmith, and he makes it a god; They prostrate themselves, yes, they worship. They bear it on the shoulder, they carry it And set it in its place, and it stands; From its place it shall not move. Though one cries out to it, yet it cannot answer Nor save him out of his trouble.” (Isaiah 46:5-7 NKJV)
“No idol is close to God in rank or power…our God is all-knowing and all-powerful. So powerful is He that He can tell the names and the number of the stars!…This powerful God is worthy of our trust and worship. “
As opposed to powerless idols, our God is all-knowing and all-powerful. So powerful is He that He can tell the names and the number of the stars! Precisely, about how many stars do we have up there? Scientists do not have the actual figure, but the estimation they came up with is mind-blowing. It is said that stars are not just scattered in space at random. Rather they are in large constellations known as galaxies. The sun belongs to a galaxy called the Milky Way and is reported to have about 100 thousand million stars in it alone. Then it is estimated that there are multiple millions of other galaxies as well. Imagine if each of the galaxies has as much as the Milky Way does, then the number is totally mesmerizing. As confusing as this is to our finite mind, the Bible says God knows the number of the stars! More perplexing is the fact that each of them has a name and God calls them all by their assigned names! This powerful God is worthy of our trust and worship.
