Believers have just one general purpose on earth – to preach the gospel to all creation. That is what is commonly referred to as the Great Commission. Embedded in this commission is doing the greatest good to the greatest number of people. Whereas the purpose for all believers is the same, the platforms for its execution are different and diverse. We are to arm ourselves with the fact that our careers and vocations are the platforms for carrying out this divine mandate.
“The Holy Spirit does not only provide the key to the nations, but also to the hearts of men. Dependence on Him is the only guarantee to become effective witness for the Lord.”
However, it is important to stress that we cannot make any headway in this onerous task simply by relying on our intellectual prowess, political connections, or our business acumen. It is mandatory that we be endued with supernatural power that comes from the supply of the Spirit. This is why we have been looking at the indispensability of the Holy Spirit. Not even Jesus attempted to fulfill His mandate on earth without the supply of the Spirit. He waited long in the wilderness, praying and fasting. The aftermath of that was the inflow of the Spirit that energized Him to fulfill His assignment. In a sense, we are an extension of Jesus ministry. He sent us just the same way the Father sent Him. It goes without saying, therefore, that we need His form of equipping to make us successful just as He was. The Holy Spirit does not only provide the key to the nations, but also to the hearts of men. Dependence on Him is the only guarantee to become effective witness for the Lord.
