There is no provision in God’s word that totally precludes believers from downturns. What is abundantly clear is the fact that God wants His children up and strong again each time they are floored. A couple of scriptures attest to this. Proverbs 24:16 says, “For a righteous man may fall seven times And rise again, But the wicked shall fall by calamity.” (NKJV). This verse is not suggesting that after the seventh recovery, a believer is doomed should another crisis erupt thereafter. The word “seven” is employed not in a literal sense, but to depict many. Another scripture that emphasizes recovery is Micah 7:8 – “Do not rejoice over me, my enemy; When I fall, I will arise; When I sit in darkness, The LORD will be a light to me.” (NKJV)
“Believers’ ability to bounce back in life is incredibly elastic…For a child of God, it is not over while the Spirit is still working!”
Believers’ ability to bounce back in life is incredibly elastic. What makes it so is the Holy Spirit that is at work in them. From our scripture for meditation today, we realize that it was the Spirit that made Jesus bounce back to life despite the seemingly insurmountable opposition from the gates of hell. We now have it on good authority that the same Spirit can make believers bounce back from any adversity that may befall them. Therefore, it is premature to draw conclusion on a child of God who is still breathing and has the Spirit of God working in him or her. For a child of God, it is not over while the Spirit is still working!
