The global cosmetics market is made up of products for skincare, haircare, make-up, perfumes, toiletries and deodorants. Oral cosmetics are the other addition to the list. According to a 2020 report, skincare was the leading category, accounting for about 42 percent of the global market. That was followed by haircare products raking in 22 percent, while make-up accounted for 16 percent. Skincare is one of the most profitable product categories, as its revenue is projected to generate roughly 177 billion U.S. dollars in 2025. These statistics are supplied to demonstrate the obsession of human beings with physical beauty.
While we are not advocating the neglect of the body, we emphasize that the most rewarding part is the inner beauty.
The making of man began when God put dust together to mould him. At that point, the man was no better than a statue. To animate and give it status, God breathed into his nostrils. Life and mobility came when God’s breath was given to man. So the real essence of man is the Spirit of God inside him. Unfortunately, that is what is often neglected. The physical body that we spend lots of money on came from the dust, and at death, it will certainly return to dust. The more important part needing attention is the spirit of man. Apostle Paul had this to say to the Thessalonians: “Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (I Thessalonians 5:23 NKJV). God wants man’s whole being sanctified, but take note of the order. It is first the spirit before the soul and body. The bane of the world today is that we have reversed the order to body, soul, and spirit. While we are not advocating the neglect of the body, we emphasize that the most rewarding part is the inner beauty.
