Several battles may be required in order to actualize God’s plan for our lives. However, there is what I like referring to as the first battle — the battle against intimidation. No one has done any significant thing without having to fence off intimidation. If you don’t conquer it, hardly can you dream of any other conquest. Intimidation appears in different shapes and sizes. When Jeremiah got introduced to the plan of God for his life, his young age was going to intimidate him. “Then said I: “Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, I cannot speak, for I am a youth.”” Jeremiah 1:6 (NKJV). When he learned that he had been sanctified and made a prophet ever before he was born, he could not fathom such a divine scheme. He saw himself very small compared to God’s grandiose plan. He tried to push back, basing his reason on his youthfulness.
“With God on your side, you can silence the noise of intimidation and march on to attain your place in destiny.”
Here is the twist to the issue. Unless there is a deliberate attempt to stand, there will always be things that will intimidate us away from God’s plans and purposes. Jeremiah was bordered about his young age. Incidentally Abraham and Sarah were equally bordered about age too. While Jeremiah thought himself to be too young, the couple concluded themselves too old for God’s plan! They all would later learn that where the purpose of God is concerned, age is no barrier. Our text for today’s meditation is also about intimidation. The Jebusites tried to intimidate David from taking Jerusalem. They dismissed his entire army by saying their lame and blind would be enough to ward them off. He overcame the intimidation and went on to take the city. With God on your side, you can silence the noise of intimidation and march on to attain your place in destiny.
