There are established protocols for approaching God. One of them was mentioned in our previous meditation; that is, having a pure motive. Besides, faith must come into the mix. Coming to God requires inner persuasion about His person and ability. This is the import of our text. In his gospel, Mark recorded the story of the woman with the flow of blood. She got healed, but not until she had engaged her faith. To begin with, let us examine her predicaments. She had blood flow for 12 years with all its inconveniences. She also had spent her entire earning on doctors. That means her condition no longer provided for opportunity to make money. Compound that with the effect that could have had on her marital life and the social stigma associated with the situation, then you will pardon her desperation to touch Jesus.

In itself, zeal can be taken as a demonstration of faith. That the woman was zealous to touch Jesus was all too evident. Beyond her zeal, she was equally persuaded that upon touching the Lord, she would experience a change. She came to be healed, and not to try Jesus like any of the doctors she had met previously. A lot of people do not experience any significant change in their situations because they put God in the same class as other people they have tried for help. They come to try, not as unto the living God who is able to do all things. This woman settled it in her heart that if only she could get to touch the helm of His garment, she would be free of the plague. She got what she said and believed for in her heart. When you combine the purity of heart with strong faith, the power of God will be available for you.
